How to Create Your First Estate in Celestial Divide

A step-by-step walkthrough for setting up your first estate — from importing assets to inviting beneficiaries — in under 10 minutes.

Getting started with estate asset management software doesn't have to be complicated. Here's exactly how to set up your first estate, import assets, and invite the right people — in under 10 minutes.

What This Guide Covers

  • Creating a new estate in Celestial Divide
  • Importing assets using the built-in template
  • Adding assets manually as a fallback
  • Inviting an executor, personal representative, and beneficiaries
  • Managing estate settings before the process begins

Whether you're an estate attorney, trust officer, or personal representative setting up a matter for the first time, this walkthrough gets you from a blank slate to a ready estate.

Step 1: Log In and Create a New Estate

Once you're logged into Celestial Divide, you'll land on your estate dashboard. If this is your first time, you'll go through a brief account setup before you can proceed.

From the dashboard, select Create New Estate. You'll name the estate and provide the basic details needed to get it initialized. At this stage, you don't need to have everything ready — assets, beneficiaries, and settings can all be configured afterward.

Step 2: Import Assets Using the Template

The fastest way to populate an estate is through the asset import template. Navigate to Add Asset and select the import option. You'll be prompted to download the template — available in multiple file formats.

There are two template versions:

  • Assets without real estate — for estates containing personal property, financial accounts, vehicles, business interests, and similar assets
  • Assets with real estate — includes additional fields for property details, mortgage information, and monthly carrying costs

The template includes example rows to show you the expected format. Fill it out, save it, and upload it back into the system.

On upload, every row is validated automatically. If something looks off, you can edit cells directly in the review screen or delete rows before finalizing the import. Once you confirm, all assets populate into the estate's asset view.

Step 3: Add Assets Manually (If Needed)

Missed something after the import? No need to start over. Celestial Divide lets you add assets one at a time directly in the system. Manual entry is also useful when a single asset needs detailed attention that's easier to handle outside a spreadsheet.

Step 4: Add the Executor and Invite Beneficiaries

After assets are in, the next step is adding the people involved in the matter.

For attorneys and professionals: You can add the personal representative or executor on behalf of your client directly from the estate setup screen.

Inviting beneficiaries is done from the same screen. You don't need to send invitations immediately — the estate can be fully configured with assets and settings before anyone else is brought in. That flexibility matters when you want everything in order before beneficiaries start engaging.

When you're ready, pending invitations are visible from the estate detail view so you can track who has accepted and who still needs to respond.

Step 5: Estate Settings and Clean-Up Options

If you need to start over, you can delete the estate from the settings screen. This is a clean reset — useful during setup if something was misconfigured early on.

Once invitations go out and the estate is active, the estate detail view becomes the central hub: asset status, bidding progress, pending invitations, and configuration options are all accessible from here.

Who Can Create an Estate?

In Celestial Divide, estate creation access depends on your role:

  • Executors / Personal Representatives can create and manage the estates they're assigned to
  • Professionals (attorneys, wealth managers, trust officers) can create and manage multiple estates across their client base from a single account

Beneficiaries do not create estates — they're invited into one that's been set up on their behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to set up an estate in Celestial Divide?

Most estates can be fully configured in under 10 minutes using the asset import template. The bulk of the time is filling out the asset spreadsheet — once uploaded, everything else (invitations, settings, review) takes only a few minutes.

Can I import assets from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Celestial Divide provides two downloadable import templates: one for estates with real property (which includes mortgage and carrying cost fields) and one for estates without. Both support common file formats and include example rows to guide formatting.

Do beneficiaries need to create accounts before I invite them?

No. You send invitations directly from the estate setup screen, and beneficiaries create their accounts when they accept. You can configure the entire estate — assets, settings, and roles — before any beneficiary is brought in.

What types of assets can I add to an estate?

Celestial Divide supports real property (primary residence, vacation homes, rental properties), vehicles, financial accounts, business interests, personal property, cash, and other asset types. Each asset can include a gross value, associated debt, and descriptive details to help beneficiaries understand what they're evaluating.

Who should create the estate — the attorney or the executor?

Either can. Professionals (attorneys, trust officers, wealth managers) typically create the estate on behalf of their client and add the executor or personal representative from the setup screen. If no professional is managing the matter, the executor can create and manage the estate directly.
